Keeping children safe in education: CASPAR briefing

Last updated: 04 Sep 2018 Topics: Schools

From September 2018, schools in England must follow updated statutory guidance on Keeping children safe in education (Department for Education, 2018a).

Our briefing summarises the changes in the new version of the guidance. Topics covered include:

  • child criminal exploitation
  • homelessness
  • domestic abuse
  • child sexual exploitation
  • children missing from education
  • sexual violence and sexual harassment.

The updated guidance includes a new section on preventing and managing sexual violence and sexual harassment in schools. There is also the separate guidance on sexual violence and sexual harassment between children in schools and colleges (Department for Education, 2018b).
