In February 2020 Ofsted, the Care Quality Commission (CQC), HMI Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS) and HMI Probation (HMIP)1 published a report looking at the multi-agency response to child sexual abuse in the family environment. The report follows a series of joint targeted area inspections (JTAIs) looking at how well agencies are working together in local areas to help and protect children in England.

Our briefing focuses on key findings from the report organised under four themes:

  • prevention
  • identification
  • protection
  • support.
