What will I learn?

Each section takes about 20-40 minutes to complete, followed by five questions. You’ll be given a full explanation of the correct and incorrect answers to help you develop your understanding and confidence.

By the end of the course you’ll be able to:

  • identify what is meant by child abuse or abuse of adults at risk
  • identify the legislation and guidance in England and Wales that provides the framework for safeguarding young people or young adults in need of care and support
  • describe the types, signs and indicators of abuse as they apply to children up to 18 years, or young adults at risk between 18 and 25
  • understand how to respond to concerns about the welfare of young people and the wellbeing of young adults at risk and know who to report to
  • understand the principles of good recording practice.
