Learning from inquiries and reports about safeguarding practice

Learning for improved safeguarding practice in the voluntary and community sector

This briefing shares learning from published reports to help organisations in the voluntary and community sector (VCS) strengthen their child protection and safeguarding practice.

The findings and learning in this briefing are taken from reports of inquiries and investigations into safeguarding practice within the voluntary and community sector by organisations such as the Charity Commission for England and Wales, Oxfam and the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE).

These reports highlight the need for VCS organisations to have robust child protection policies and procedures in place and ensure staff and volunteers undergo child protection training.

We have also produced a briefing sharing the learning from published case reviews that relate to voluntary agencies.
