What we can help with

We respond to over a thousand queries every year, helping find the information you need to help keep children safe.

Professionals ask us things like:

  • Can you help me find evidence on what works in supporting children displaying harmful sexual behaviour?
  • How many children in the UK were abused last year?
  • Can you identify recent serious case reviews which involved child neglect?
  • Can you help me find resources to support my work with children around county lines and grooming?
"Thank you so much for turning this around so quickly. The NSPCC library lists look excellent and are likely to contain a number of papers that have yet to be identified by the team"

Case reviews

National case review repository

The NSPCC Library holds the National case review repository.

Search for a case review

A case review is carried out by the local authority or agency when a child dies, or is seriously harmed, as a result of abuse or neglect. The reviews identify ways to improve how we safeguard children.

The repository provides unique access to:

  • over 2,000 reports dating back to 1945 from across the UK
  • thematic analysis reports for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Thematic briefings

We produce a series of briefings that summarise the learning from case reviews on a particular topic or tailored for a specific sector.

> Read our learning from case reviews briefings

Monthly updates

Every month we send an email alert about the new case reviews that have been published and added to the National case review repository.
