The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) published its final report into child sexual abuse and exploitation in institutions in England and Wales in October 20221.
In Spring 2023, the Welsh Government2 and the Home Office3 set out their responses to IICSA’s recommendations to:
- improve understanding of the scale of child sexual abuse
- prioritise the protection of children
- empower children and young people
- create a more protective environment for children
- improve identification and reporting of child sexual abuse
- improve the criminal justice response to child sexual abuse
- support people who were sexually abused in childhood
make amends - respond to evolving challenges.
