Example role description for a nominated child protection lead

Last updated: 14 Jan 2019 Topics: Safeguarding and child protection

Every organisation that works with children needs to have a person who takes the lead on safeguarding and child protection. They may be known as a child protection lead, a designated safeguarding officer (DSO), a lead officer for safeguarding and child protection or something similar.

We've created this example role description, which you can use to make sure everyone in your organisation understands the important role of the nominated child protection lead.

It should be used in conjunction with our information and resources on safeguarding and child protection. Anyone who is taking the lead on safeguarding and child protection should be fully trained.
