Face-to-face training to update your safeguarding skills and knowledge

If you hold a lead safeguarding role in schools and colleges then your training should be updated every two years.

Our face-to-face training course taught by experienced professionals will update your knowledge and further develop competence and confidence in carrying out your lead safeguarding role.

What will I learn?

In this classroom-based course, you’ll explore and revisit:

  • the main role and responsibilities of a designated safeguarding lead
  • changes in key legislation and guidance affecting the education service’s response to concerns about a child
  • ways to identify barriers that stop staff from reporting concerns and working with multi-agency partners, including strategies to overcome this
  • making appropriate decisions about the action to take when informed of concerns about a child or young person
  • the emotional impact of safeguarding work and the ways in which a designated safeguarding lead can support staff appropriately
  • concerns that are current and contemporary through the use of case studies, such as:

Who is this course for?

The designated safeguarding lead should undergo updated child protection training every two years.

This course is for people who have previously attended a safeguarding lead face-to-face training course and who need to update their knowledge and skills.
