Online course to help professionals with safeguarding children and young people from county lines and exploitation

Awareness, prevention and early intervention are key in tackling county lines and child criminal exploitation. What seems like a small or isolated issue could be part of a bigger picture that a young person may be at risk of harm and need support.

Anyone who works, volunteers or comes into contact with children and young people is in a good position to notice and act on any concerns about their safety and wellbeing.

This online course will give you the knowledge you need to recognise the signs and indicators of county lines exploitation and respond appropriately.

What will I learn?

You will learn what county lines is and who is affected; the grooming and entrapment process; signs that a child or young person may be experiencing county lines abuse; how to respond and report concerns – including how to work with other agencies involved; and how to work with and support young people and their families.

The online course contains three modules:

  • risks and vulnerability factors
  • recognising, responding to and reporting concerns
  • supporting children and young people.

You’ll learn through a combination of teaching pages, videos, case studies, reflection and assessment questions.

Experts from the NSPCC, St Giles Trust, Catch 22 and the police explore and explain county lines, how to respond and how to support children and young people.

Through Kyle’s and Mya’s stories you’ll better understand how county lines happens, the impact it has, and how you can help keep children and young people safe.
