Take a look back at the resources, research and training we’ve produced in 2025 to support you in protecting children and young people.
Podcast
We published seven podcast episodes this year discussing a range of safeguarding topics with organisations and safeguarding experts. In our picks this season:
- we heard directly from young people in the NSPCC's Voice of Online Youth group who provided an insight into online life and what online safety topics they'd like to learn more about
- Paddi Vint from the NSPCC Helpline and Lauren Seager-Smith from For Baby's Sake discussed the impact of domestic abuse on babies
- NSPCC Local Services Director Karen Squillino met with Jill Fuller, Head of Safeguarding at Lift Schools to understand safeguarding in multi-academy trusts
Research and resources
Evaluating our services and data helps us highlight key trends and issues in child protection, improve safeguarding knowledge and share what we do. We published over 20 reports and resources in 2025 including:
- Why language matters blogs making us aware of the impact our words can have on safeguarding – we covered six terms from ‘alleged’ to 'sextortion'
- Together for Childhood (TfC) evaluation reports, creating evidence-based approaches for local partnerships and families. TfC published the Developmental evaluation which explored the overall impact of place-based work. While local reports explored emotional intelligence in primary schools in Glasgow, young people shaping their sex and relationships education in Plymouth and infant brain development in Grimsby.
- analysis of key safeguarding issues to make recommendations for organisations and the government including the risks to children of generative AI, how online services enable the abuse of girls and recommendations for protecting children in private messaging spaces.
- Insight briefings on young people’s thoughts on harmful and problematic sexual behaviour and experiences of suicidal thoughts and feelings, using data from Childline counselling sessions and the NSPCC Helpline.
- Learning from case reviews on topics such as housing, disguised compliance and healthcare to help professionals improve decision-making within their organisations.
